The LGTF or GTFC course is a crucial certification for seafarers aspiring to work on gas tankers and is mandatory for obtaining an Indian Gas Tanker DCE. This comprehensive 5-day gas tanker course is structured in accordance with the latest STCW Convention and DG Shipping Guidelines. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of:

- Properties and characteristics of liquefied gases
- Advanced equipment and technology used in cargo handling
- Emergency response procedures for gas tanker operations

Eligibility for LGTF Course
To attend the LGTF Course, you need to clear all of the points mentioned below.
- Age Requirement
- Must be at least 18 years old. .
- Educational Qualification
- Minimum qualification: 10th pass.
- Must possess a valid Indian CDC.
- Should have successfully cleared::- Basic Safety Training (BST) exit exam & STSDSD (Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties) exit exam
- Medical Fitness
- Must be medically fit as per the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
- A medical fitness certificate from an approved doctor is required.
- Vision and hearing should meet the required standards.
- Nationality & Identity Proof
- Valid passport or national identity document (as per country regulations).
- No Criminal Record
- Some training institutes may require a police clearance certificate if you had any record of offense.

LGTF Course Details
The LGTF/GTFC course equips seafarers with essential knowledge and skills required for safe liquefied gas tanker operations. The training covers:
- Basic knowledge of liquefied gas tankers
- Basic knowledge of the physical properties of liquefied gases.
- Knowledge and understanding of tanker safety culture and safety management
- Basic knowledge of the hazards associated with tanker operations .
- Basic knowledge of hazard controls.
- Understanding of information on a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
- Function and proper use of gas-measuring instruments and similar equipment
- Proper use of safety equipment and protective devices.
- Basic knowledge of safe working practices and procedures in accordance with legislation and industry guidelines and personal shipboard safety relevant to liquefied gas tankers.
- Basic knowledge of first aid with reference to a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
- Fire safety and fire fighting operations
- Basic knowledge of emergency procedures including emergency shutdown
- Basic knowledge of the effects of pollution on human and marine life
- Basic knowledge of shipboard procedures to prevent pollution
- Basic knowledge of measures to be taken in the event of spillage.

1. E-Learning Requirements for LGTF Exit Exam
- Minimum Study Hours: 20 hours
- Passing Marks: 50%
2. Steps to Complete E-Learning:

- Click on Modular Courses, enroll in LGTF/GTFC, and log in with face verification.
- Complete the required e-learning hours and attempt the assessment exam.
- Upon passing, candidates become eligible for 5-day classroom training at a DG Shipping-approved MTI.
- After classroom training, candidates must take the Exit Exam on the DG Shipping website.
3. Exit Exam Details

- Duration: 30 minutes

How to Download LGTF Course Certificate

- The certificate can be downloaded through the Indos CoP Checker on the DG Shipping website.
What is the LGTF Certificate Validity
- The LGTF STCW certificate is valid indefinitely, while the DCE (Dangerous Cargo Endorsement) certificate is valid for 5 years.
- To apply for a DCE certificate, update profile details (passport, CDC, etc.) on the Indos portal.
- The DCE certificate is system-generated and available within 3-15 days through the Indos CoP Checker.
