ERS Course Description
The 5-day MEO CLASS II (ERS) course meets IMO Model course 2.07 and STCW requirements for management-level engineering officers. It trains participants to safely operate, supervise, and maintain ship machinery in normal and emergency situations.
- Learning how to use modern engine-room instruments and controls.
- Understanding the need for pre-planning, checklists, and proper startup procedures.
- Gaining skills in spotting problems and troubleshooting.
- Building logical decision-making skills to improve safety.
Eligibility for ERS Course
To attend the ERS Course, you need to clear all of the points mentioned below.
- MEO Class 4 Certificate of Competency issued by the Government of India.
- Not less than twelve months as Assistant Engineer Officer or Officer in charge of an Engineering watch on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more, after obtaining MEO Class 4 CoC.
Documents Required for ERS Course
To apply for the ERS-M course you need a list of documents such as:
- INDoS Id
- CDC with proof of 6 months of sea service (Soft Copy),
- Valid Medicals by a D.G. Shipping Approved Doctor (Click here for the list of DGS Approved Doctors),
- A valid passport.
ERS Course Details
The ERS course equips seafarers with essential knowledge and skills required for safe liquefied gas tanker operations. The training covers:
- Lists the machinery and associated systems and equipment which form the simulated plant.
- Describes how the machinery and associated systems and equipment are arranged and linked together to form the plant and compile a block diagram illustrating.
- Compares the block diagram with the mimic diagram.
- Describes the alarms that are used to indicate malfunctions and faults.
- States that the machinery units forming the plant can be controlled
- States that the safe practices must always be used when preparing machinery units and associated systems for start-up and operation.
- General Procedures, Auxiliary units, and systems, Diesel-driven generator, Steam boiler, Steam driven turbo generator, Main propulsion diesel engine, establish the normal running mode and observe operating conditions.
- Taking over and accepting an engineering watch.
- Main propulsion unit operating at full power.
